Description

Hi, this is probably my favourite manipulation I have done so far, though I have only done a handful. Please let me know what you think in the comments.

The story behind the picture, or the idea I was trying to show was the Fairy Queen walking through the forest. She heard a sound and found an injured wolf on the ground.

See version two here: The Fairy Queen and The Lone Wolf v2.

Hi and hello from :iconprojectcomment:

First of all, I really like the atmosphere of the piece. You create it wonderfully by adding the rain and the background colour that create a wonderful tristesse - and the contrast the fairy brings to it, being coloured and standing out. On the other hand, the lone wolf almost blends with the background, it took me a second look to even see him - but that's definitely a good thing in that case :) I like that he doesn't seem like the usual evil, overpowering, consuming creature that he usually is in fairy tales. That's even more pronounced by his vulnerable pose - a great composition.

Sadly, there are also a few things that bother me. The girl doesn't seem to be affected by the rain at all - her hair is dry and so is her dress. I think you could solve that either by making her a bit wet or by creating some kind of "shield" around her - after all, she can do magic. That would need to be visual, though.
Plus, there's the dress. It seems too huge for her body. Given the proportions of how her head is and her body should be, it would never be able to fall the way it does, as ruffled on one side and absolutely straight on the other. It would require her hips to be more than broad, and that does not fit the body. Or it would require the dress to be made of a more stable tissue, but that would, in turn, never achieve this kind of look.

So, basically: The motive is wonderful and you worked the atmosphere perfectly. However, you should keep an eye out for details. (and as for the skirt, if you're uncertain, try it with a blanket and make a photo over your shoulder ;) )

I think with a bit more practice, this might become amazing.
